Thanks! EXACTLY the info I was looking for. I'm having a little trouble with the forum site, but think I'm on the right track using the temporary password.
Yes very much interested in your chain and sprockets, need more information. PM me please.
Normally when talking faster/slower, they mean acceleration, and your speed from a stop is slower when you lower the rear sprocket, but you get a higher top end (and normally better gas milage if you keep your rpm's lower at the same speeds).
But since your now using more hp than before you have less reserve for things like wind as he noticed (aka wasted gas). Only solution you wil have is to downshift, if it is a problem.

It uses all the same gearing except comes with a 45 rear instead of 42rear, I have no idea about chain though, as the 2010 manual doesn't spec the chain at all.
I would likely if I was doing it, go with 16/38 max, 17/38 is likely too much. and it means you won't have to replace that sprocket also, the front ones can be a real pain to get off.
Also check what is currently on the bike, not sure if you got the bike used, someone might have made changes already.
Thanks, that all makes sense. I did install a 17 tooth front sprocket. Seems to be geared fine. But picked up a little vibr as tion that wasn't there before. The bike only has 1100 miles on it now. Bought it with only 90 miles! Had to pull the carb and clean it out, but now runs perfect.
I think I'll put the OEM 16 tooth back on, and go with 38 rear. May take a few combinations before I'm totally satisfied.
Most normal people grow beards for the winter weather.
Or participate in no shave November. I tend to start growing
a beard at the end of November for riding season and keep it
all summer long. Then get depressed and shave. Am I the only
one who beard preps for riding season? lol
these sites are amazing for finding great motorcycle rides no matter where in the country you are. looking for somewhere new to explore? check these out. rides are posted by regular riders with the routes, details, ratings, maps, and pics.
For me, I want to take three days or so to loop around my home state of Pennsylvania. Starting in the SE in Phoenixville, I want to visit an old friend in Leonard, NJ, then cut back into PA and head north to RT 6, then across the state, checking out what I think is called the Grand Canyon of PA...
This is an idea I have seen on another forum, and it seemed like a lot of fun if enough people participate. This forum has more than enough activity that it should take off. The basic idea is this; while riding find certain objects or signs or whatever to take a pic of your bike in front of...
I have a question for you guys. NONE of the bike shops around here will work on a bike over 10 years old. I find that really strange, because the way I see it, they're missing out on a LOT of income. Seriously, the way bikes are made nowadays as opposed to back in the 70's and 80's when I was...
