I have a 2001 v star 1100 custom, and the battery is not charging, any suggestions for self diagnosis?

This page suggests if it is not charging it is likely the rectifier.

Yes, could be the rectifier, if not run a continuity check on your stator.

Sounds like Linerdave and Sugar Bear have it covered. Only other thing is to check the connectors, battery, and battery cables for condition.

I had the same problems with mine. It was the rectifier. It's location on the bike doesn't allow for proper cooling, so they can burn out and melt.
