Starting a custom build thread. I’m not tearing this thing down, I am however removing some of the custom stuff that was done to it and converting to a bagger.
pics from day 1 at the dealership
Some additional pics I took at home on day 2
First thing that stick out to me is that the windshield is standing almost straight up.
I pulled the (what looks like homemade) brackets out of the windshield mounts and laid the windshield back where it belongs.
Second issue I have with it is the forward controls. Don’t know what it is but I don’t care for them. Got a factory set of floorboards coming with controls.
The handlebars look cool but the reach is a bit much. Needs to come back and up about an inch each direction. Can’t touch the driver backrest. The combo of the forward controls and the reach feels way too hunched over. Also not a fan of the rust bolts either, so I ordered a set of 4” risers. Also ordered the install studs for this bike from Dennis Kirk.
These are the risers I bought.
Salesman and I were talking about the cheap leather bags this thing had on it when he got it. I’m guessing that’s what happened to the fender stays. They are flaking chrome. I ordered a set of new fender stays I found on eBay. Coming from two different countries.
Ordered a set of Tsukayu Jumbo Strong Bags earlier this week painted gloss black. Hopefully their black will be close enough I won’t have to paint over it. These are the hard bags (without the lights and racks).
Bags are 10.5” wide should give it a wide look to it. Unsure if I’ll keep the back seat on this one. Depends on if I buy a second bike next week or not.
Decided on crash bars this evening. I think the brand was Bagger” but I’m not familiar with them. Ships out of TX that’s all I know. I bought these because they complement the handlebar lines.
Battery is shot, got a new one in my foyer. Have to put it on tomorrow while it’s nice out. I’m sure I’m gonna run into crap along the way I didn’t expect so follow along .
