Driver Backrest Installation

I am attempting to buy a driver's backrest for my new 2009 VS Star 950. Can anybody help me with the correct steps? Will I need a special tool? I love the bike and there is already a backseat that came with the touring package, but I hardly ever ride anyone. I would enjoy the backrest.

Something very weird going on here... Impostor~!~~!

From what I have seen on the backrest they are a plug and play item, but it can depend on the brand or style of backrest you get.
