Has anyone purchased the 3" or 4" extentions for the stock foot controls? Do they work well? I think I want to go forward a bit, but can't justify $400 to $900 on forward controls right now. Also looking to try some of the Fire Dragon Brothers pegs from ebay. Anyone tried anything like them before? Should I go with a better known brand?

I have 6" extensions and love the driving position. The only drawback is that they flexed toward the centerline of bike when I was repositioning on bike. Solved added stainless 3/8 rod between them and threaded both ends to lock them in place.

This is going to seem like a weird question, but trying to gauge how long of extentions to look at... What is the length of a comfortable pair of pants for you? I'm right at a 31" inseam.

I'm a 32" inseam and I'm not straight legged on the pegs. Had a friend over and he tried it and said if felt like sitting in a Lazy Boy. Felt a little weird at first, but now wouldn't do without them.

Mine are 6" and the rear of the two FWD holes is a slot to adjust the angle of the peg/floorboard. I think it's this narrowing of the hole margins that let it flex. But like I said I put a rod across so it's, capnut/bracket/nut-rod-nut/bracket/capnut and it's very solid now. My brackets are similar to yours but in Stainless so the rod in Stainless also looks good there.

Just picked up a 650 Classic as my first bike.
Also looking at the 4" extensions for floorboards.
Confused with all the different types!
Here's some that I've been looking at:
ScootMods - http://scootmods.net/product.php?id=18
Ziv's - http://greggzivney.com/zivblog/pegfloorboard-extensions/
SS Custom - http://www.sscustomcycle.com/products/accessories/forwardcontrols.shtml
Motorcycle Enhancements -http://www.motorcycleenhancements.com/Products/Yamaha/V-Star_1100_Custom/FloorboardFootpeg_Extensions_-_black.aspx

On my bike there are two small chrome crash bars (extend maybe 4" off frame. Not like the wider freeway bars?).
Does anyone know if any of the extensions will work with these crash bars?
I'd like to keep the bars for either highway peg or light mounting.
Here's a pic showing the bars:

Do you mean as you ride to reposition / Cool the Cheeks? That answer is yes. That's exactly where I was having my now fixed flex problem. They are not as far forward as Highway pegs, just enough to keep your legs from feeling scrunched under you. I also have a Saddlemen's Explorer seat which has a low backrest built in. I like the position and wouldn't go back.

I've added 4" extensions to my 950t, 32 inseam, rides like a dream now, or at least a lazy boy. I got the set off Ebay for about $45.00. It's the set that allows you to adjust the position into an angle also.
