Gas tank cleaning

New member here! A stripped bolt is preventing me from removing my gas tank for cleaning. Has anyone tried cleaning - like with apple cider vinegar - without removing the tank?

Not without removing the tank. But ... I have used Apple Cider Vinegar to clean the inside of a tank. It does a pretty decent job.

To remove a stripped, I have used these from O'Reilly's with great success. I purchased both sets, which covers 8-18mm or 10-16mm. Don't remember which. Can be used on standard sizes as well.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like I may have to drill out the striped bolt (which is pretty small) and then find some other way of reattaching the speedometer housing. So much for being lazy!

Can you take a picture of the stripped bolt?

I ask because They make drill bits that will work of smaller bolt heads that are stripped.

I think it will be worth getting that tank off. And you want to fix the screw anyway, right?

Maybe show us a pic the offending screw. I...uh, some guy...uh, I heard of a guy who had stripped a bolt one time. We might have some idea to help you get it out. A speedo bezel screw would be a piece of cake compared to some places.
