My friend has the same year (2003) vstar 1100 as I do but mine is a custom and his is a classic. We seem to have different gearing. When we are busting down the freeway at 75 or 80 it seems my bike working harder. Is this possible?

I believe they all have same gearing, do the two bikes have different mods? Exhaust and or intake mods can make different sounds.

Yes our bikes are different. His bike is bone stock and mine is piped and jetted. That wouldn't make for a different revolution sound would it?

It would make the bikes sound different but it would still mean that you are both turing the same RPM's at a given speed/gear.
