I have an 04 650 Classic and my headlight buned out on high beam. No big deal. Easy change, right? Well all was fine until I put everything back together only to have a gold colored spring/wire hit the floor! I'm guess it cam from the top of the headlight and is supposed to keep the lamp assembly "snug" in the retainer ring. Problem is, I can't figure out where this goes, or how to put it in. Anybody else have this happen? And what do I do?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the info KlassicK! Pretty neat website they have. Gonna have to spend some time there, for sure!

Anyway, number 9 is actually the part that fell out. I have it, just can't figure out how to put it back in place. Without it, the top of the headlight just pushes in, and I'm sure will vibrate when riding!

I never did figure out how to put the spring back in properly. I ended up taking the outer headlight assembly along with me to the Yamaha dealer. When I stopped at the parts/service counter with it, the guy chuckeled a little and told me to wait for a minute. He took the light into the shop and came back out 2 minutes later and all was better! Never charged me for it, but perhaps that was because I spent another $150 bucks on riding gear.
