Installation of Brake Light Flasher

Hello all, I recently purchased a brake light flasher and have a 2007 Vstar 1100 Classic. I was wondering if anyone has installed one and if so where is the best location? Thank you.

REARALERT BRAKE LIGHT FLASHER

Hi, SilverStreak,

I have the same bike. I put my flasher (a BackOFF XP) under the seat and under the ignition module. There's enough room to push the tank connector over and stick the flasher directly to the frame. As long as your RearAlert model is roughly the same size, it should fit.

Also, when I hooked mine up, I used a two position flat connector in the brake light line. I bought a second connector and joined the two terminals together (like a "jumper") Now, if the flasher module should fail, I can simply take it out of service and bypass it, right on the side of the road if necessary, using nothing more than the bike's toolkit.

It's not that I don't trust the electronics...I just don't trust the electronics...

Thank you for the reply so quickly. I looked under the seat and found the location you indicated however the REARALERT (ebay $14.95 + 4.00 shipping) was so small I decided to install it in the chrome V behind the license plate. It fit perfectly and I also took your advice and used male and female bullet connectors so it can be removed with basic tools. Thank you again!

BTW, My next purchase will be the SOS Priority Lite ( http://www.compacc.com/p.cfm/c/1405002/p/524 ) this unit looks bigger and will have to go under the seat. Good reviews and my rear amber turn lights become running AND stop. (Yes, I checked and it is legal in WA.)
