was wondering if anyone has used a device like below to plug into the 30 pin ipod cable and turn it into a bluetooth connection so you could use your modurn smartphone as a music source instead of finding an old ipod that still works
bluetooth to ipod 30 pin

Hey Jim, is this the stereo on your bike?

1300 Stereo

If so it seems you can buy a mp3 connection from Yamaha to use your smartphone as a direct connect. I cant find the actual part number but the site makes reference to it. You might try and ask the guys over at St Onge parts counter to see if they might know.

i ordered the bluetooth to try and will report back my findings. not having to leave your phone in the panier would be a big plus as well as all the other benefits of bluetooth, from what i read in the manual the track select feature does not work when using the mp3 yamaha connector. only volume

the device arrived and works great. small little black box. plugs into 30 pin ipod connector and gets its power from there as well.
creates a bluetooth link to your phone
music sounds great
only volume controls from handlebars buts thats fine.
for 20 bucks it's better than trying to find an old ipod that still works.

I did the same thing. Purchased the "Coolstream Duo" and it works great..
Just load my playlist on the phone and ride!
I've had mine for almost two years now. :)
