Hey all,

Picked up an 03 1100 last August and looking to get a new set of pipes and air intake. Thinking about getting the Maxair or Dragons Breath and Cobra Speedster Shorts or slashdowns. I know both require rejetting. I have never messed with the mechanics of a motorcycle before but I'm DIYer and I read rejetting is pretty simple. Whats the best approach to doing both at the same time? Which kit would you recommend for doing both?

Don't buy a jet kit..."jet kits" are normally 3 sets of jets, for 40-75 dollars...2 of which you won't need. Jets normally run like 3-4 dollars a piece. Just buy them individually...

If you do pods and a full exhaust, I would follow the wiki knowledge base....150 for main, 20 for pilots

Appreciate all the feedback. Just bit the bullet on Cobra Speedster Slashdowns and Barons oil filter relocation kit. Now I just need to decide on air. Pods are looking pretty good considering what I just spent.

I'm ordering the Chubby Kit from SS Customs. I read a lot into the options out there.

Happy choosing buddy. There are pros and cons to all kits. But one thing is unanimous, you won't regret doing a pod and rejet kit. I will be finding that out for myself in the next few weeks.

I will tell you I am not a huge wrench and was very intimidated, the fellows on this forum said that it was do-able and pointed me in the right direction, SThomas gave me this link https://sites.google.com/site/vstar1...g/carb-jetting which give me TONS of info and http://www.sloneservices.com/SilverBack/Other-Stuff/CycleForay/1100jetting.pdf there is a complete walk through on jetting carbs.

Short and small of it, i did it last weekend, Easy Peezy, so easy since I only installed new pipes, I am now installing Pods and am going to re-Jet again tomorrow.

Have no fear, follow the text, and you will be fine, I would however invest in PMS thumbscrews I did not..and now i am scrambling for a solution. Cost is about 44.00 for two small screws which sucks but frankly worth it.

It seems hard but once you get going its easy. Best tip is make sure you get everything unplugged before you pull the carbs. I spent more time takin geverything off and putting it back on over the actual jetting and spacers and everything.

No offense to SS customs but the instructions simply suck and they come with a few jets sizes for you to pick from. All in all read the instruction several times if you have extra time waiting on shipping I would get it apart now so when they arive its just putting the new stuff in and slapping it back together.

Got the pipes done saturday. Took damn near all day. They were a PITA. Installing the Chubby kit and rejetting was much easier. Got it done in a few hours sunday. SS Customs instructions did suck. The KB was much easier to follow. I just used their recommended 152.5 mains and 20 pilots. I wish would have got PMS thumb screws though. Bike sounds great and its wicked fast. Didnt have to use Baron oil filter relocation kit. A buddy found me a used Jardine kit for $50 so Im going to try returning it or maybe sell here on the forum. Also got Barons AIS removal kit too but havent installed it. Bike runs great with no backfiring so I dont think I need it.
