Sat was a great day to ride until.. The rider infront of me crossed the yellow (third time), over corrected, low sided his bike into a pickup that spun his bike into me. We both walked away but, I spent 5 hours in the ER. Cops called him at fault. Now for insurance:
$2100 for a 2001 with 18k, hard bags, windshield, cobra pipes, K&N pods, new front tire, Yamaha windshield and more. Im going to press for more but how much? Looking to keep the salvage title and part out. What do you all think?

Main thing all parties are OK, glad to hear that. As far as fair value, search and print all local listing in you area, cycle trader, auto trader, Craig list are a few. Pick the ones that best match your bike. That should be accepted as fair market value in your area for insurance purposes. If there are not many listed just widen your search. Here's a few for reference. Keep us informed.

kbb or other price guides would help too

problem with getting prices from craigslist and cycle trader is they are mostly the 'asking' price - hard to tell what bikes are actually selling for based on that
or what condition the bikes are in (that are being sold) without going to look at them and spin the crank

accidents suck, esp when caused by someone else

Was the rider going wide on turns, not able to countersteer and hold his line?
Or was he just not looking where he wanted the motorcycle to go and kept drifting over the centerline?

I purchased my 2005 Silverado for $2000 with 17,500 miles in 2015. I've added some extras (see signature) but I don't think you will do much better.

One quick question: are the bags, windshield, etc. factory (i.e. Silverado) or were they aftermarket? If an accessory, that is sometimes considered a separate loss. The bike itself might have a replacement value of $2k, but if you had to also buy the accessories, how much would that add? I don't know what insurance you have, or what insurance you're dealing with, but I do know that I added $3k of accessory coverage on my insurance policy that covers riding gear, bags, etc (basically anything that wasn't factory on the model bike I have). Sorry for the slide, it's never fun dealing with that stuff.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad everyone is ok. From the way you described it, it sounds like it could've been a lot worse.

That seems like a lowball price for your bike compared to what the asking prices are around here anyway. Of course, that doesn't mean that's what they're selling for. I've had mine advertised for 4 days at $3200, which is about middle road of what others are asking and not one response yet.
