GOD YES, that means basically everyone i find has it and i do not want a carb on my next bike. Amazing you can find these bikes for so cheap really in the 7k area.

If you follow some of the other forums this one included. You will find some of the 06' and near that early era. That have idle/stalling issues, plus the nut that holds the front drive pulley on gets loose on early years(not staked proper).
but forums like this will get you in right direction. If they run, they run. I haven't had any issue that with a little reading haven't been able to fix myself or at least keep an eye maintenance check on just to keep me out of trouble.

Is this idle/stalling issue fixable?
On those rare occasions when it occurs (it's not an endemic problem) it's usually when there's an abrupt deceleration and de-clutch.

My dealer said that it was a function of the stock ECU map running the bike too lean (also causes some minor popping on decel) and the service folks could either tweak the OEM map or sell a PCIII to even out the lean areas of the operating regime. Those who have gone with the PCIII have almost universally been disappointed unless they did other modifications (pipes/air).

Apparently a fast decel and de-clutch can cause the rpm to decay too rapidly for the ECU to bring it back up to normal idle.

As far as the pulley goes, my dealer has been selling liners since Day 1 and has never seen the problem. Not saying it can't happen as some here have reported, but anecdotal details are always sketchy about whether the belt has been changed, whether the pulley has been removed, etc.

Common sense, a little blue loctite and the correct torque and "staking" should ensure proper performance. But as I say, most of those reporting have mentioned some maintenance action on the pulley nut. I sincerely doubt a NIB/properly maintained liner will be a problem.

Most have had dealer fix, or fixed it them selves. wiki has co mod for the ECU that has cured most that I have heard of.
And Like springer stated, the nut on the pulley either blue loctite or stacking the nut, fixes that.
Sorry got in a hurry or I would have done the same updates to my older model issues. All can be fixed if it runs and the price is right. should be able to enjoy the **** out of it.

Stall and Sprocket Loose

My 2006 Stratoliner S just went over 45,000 miles and I stalled once. Since then I have had my PC custom mapped to Yamaha Speedstars. I replaced the Yamaha Speedstar exhaust with Cobra Speedster Longs.

I have never had a problem with the sprocket.
