Hi guys. I am looking at 2 new 2009 Roadstars. I'm curious if there is a particular reason that they are still out there? I've heard of transmission issues but I have also heard about a recall..maybe that fixed it? I am thinking I should be nervous about tires sitting that long. Is there anything else I should think about? The price seems good, around $8900.

Thanks.

Right now I have a 2004 Suzuki Voluisa, had it for almost 3 years after being off bikes for 25 years (hence my name) and I am ready for something bigger and better for 2 up riding.

Return.....welcome to the forum.

I am actually on my second brand new 2009: first a Vstar 650, then an 1100.

No problems with either to report, and the best times in my life right now are the times I am riding.

Pull the trigger......!

I my memory is correct the RoadStar is the 1600cc, which has the lower compression. For just a little more $ you can have bigger engine and higher compression (more power). These days everyone has to have the BIG AND MIGHTY 113 CUBIC INCHES! I'm guessing it might have something to do with testosterone:confused: My research and studies have also shown that the 1600cc Road Star is also one of the bikes that is easily capable of 100,000 miles and more...

I think my point is... would you like to feed your ego or your common sense?

Update to Bike

They are both 2009, the 102" motor (1670) and Cherry Red (adds 40hp and 9 mpg right?).

Maybe worry about the battery and the tires?

Thanks all! Going to buy SOMETHING, just pondering a new bike sitting for maybe 3 years.

Welcome aboard. The R* is a great bike with great reviews. Don't worry about the tires or battery.I bought a nos 07 strat and the battery is still good and guess what? the tires wore out just like all the other liners. Hey Sparkyd the are considered 1700's the old ones are 1600.2008 and up are injected you can't go wrong unless you want to step up to a Roadliner or Stratoliner. All the star motorcycle line up are great bikes.
