i have an 09 v star custom and was reading in the previous years you could drill out the baffles, im wondering if you that modification is still possible in the 09 model.

Three hole mod

your 09 has a catalectic converter. Some of the modes were for bikes prier to 06 the first year of catalectic converters. Not sure about the three hole mod. No date on the post.

One thought, if you go to an aftermarket slip on you will have a stock muffler that will pass an inspection to fall back on if the need comes up.

On my 06 Classic that has cats, I drilled straight into the final pipe which resulted in a sort of oblong hole in the pipe on one side since the final pipe comes out at an angle.

Wound up with a hole that was 1/2" wide(largest drill bit I had) and maybe an inch long.

Resulting sound is a heck of a lot better that the three hole mod. Deeper, not as raspy!

I have since put on a set of BUB Big Willy pipes that I purchased used for cheap and they sound fantastic! Nice, throaty tone and not obnoxious as long as the baffles are in place.

couldn't ya Drill A few Holes in your Cat. converter also?

The cats are up close to where the head pipe joins the muffler so you would need a really long drill bit!
