Welcome to the forums. I can't answer your question as I've never changed the cams in mine but someone should reply with some ideas.

Welcome from Houston Texas. Loud ticking from upper cylinder area is normally caused from valve clearance being too great. I would first suggest to check clearance. Fingers crossed, that solves the noise. Why did you replace the camera? Did you reinstall stock cam or aftermarket with higher lift? Did you inspect all items, rockers, cam chain, cam sprockets, etc when you replaced cam?

Here's a few interesting threads to check out when you get a chance.

Gotcha, check timing marks, if valve is kissing piston, hopefully no damage.

Had fly wheel timeing mark dead on and timing gear mock with mark on cylinder head dead on. but I read somewhere that’s some models the time in mark isn’t exactly lined up with timing gear and mark on cylinder head. it’s actually a half a tooth retarded
so if that is true how would I line up cam gear mark

To ensure proper timing I suggest to follow these directions. I've timed several 1100s that the owner turned the engine the wrong way while setting timing and timing got off due to chain slack.

Les B thank you for the information hopefully tomorrow I could get out in the garage and take a look will stick inspection camera down the spark plug hole and check out inside of the cylinder make sure no damage to piston or valve.
Sounds good. A compression test will also tell if valve is bent.
