Hi all,
I am new to the V Star world. I bought an 07 650 v star about 3 weeks ago. It had sat for a while before I bouhgt it, so I changed the oil today. Then I took it out for a ride. It stalled out at 45 mph after it was warmed up. I got it started again and then it stalled out again a few miles later. Finally it was stalling every 1/4 mile. I would pull over and let it cool down then it would start. Finally I trialered it home.

I have read on some pages it is a gas issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chuck

Just a few things i would do: Change plugs wheather they needed it or not, totally drain any gas in the tank and refill with fresh plus SeaFoam, change or clean air filter, ect. It does sound to me to be fuel related plus maybe dirty or gummed a bit carbs, just my thoughts as a place to start, hope you get it straightend out:)

I agree with Sugar Bear and add sounds like you've got a float or floats stuck in the carbs.

quite embarrassing, it was out of gas. No light ever cameon. I do not have a light saying it is low or out. figured it out when I went to empty the tank and put fresh gas in. lesson learned.

A true Slingblade moment. When they bring that mower in and theyve tried everything and Carl simply says "Does it have gas in it?"

What did you find? this will help the next person with similar problems.

I would run seafoam through it for a few tanks, get the fuel system good and cleaned out. First tank should be double strength like it says on the can, then run it reg strength for a few tanks. I run seafoam through mine a few times a year to keep it clean.

do you have to turn the reserve on 3/4's the way through a full tank? Off topic but Fulltilt where did you get your Yamaha Tri-Bar headlight & driving lights? My headlight is insufficient.

Bought both on E-bay separately. Saved about $150 over dealer price.
They are both Yamaha parts. I think they are made for the Classic but I like the look on my custom.
