I recently bought an 07 Strat and love it, but I have a question about the sound of the engine. It has what I would call a knocking sound especially under very light acceleration. I think this is normal as I put a couple hundred miles on a different bike(an 06) and it had the same sound. I dont know if I am decribing the sound correctly, but if any of you can assure me it is normal I would appreciate it. Hope its normal as it is one of the most enjoyable bikes I have ever had. Thanks for any help!

Lots of noise

Doop,

Tought to make a judgement by a discription. But my guess is don't worry about it. It seems to be very common when some one gets a new V twin to worry about some noise. The Liner being one of the biggest air cooled V Twins is even a little noiser. You have push rods with a small gap. And the air intake even makes noises that sound metalic. I actully think many of the sounds are the air intake. The bike sucks a quart of air in in a very short time around a butterfly valve. Big motor with nothing between it and you but a gas tank.

You will love the bike I'm sure, lots of power and good balance for a big bike.

My '08 has a knocking noise too, but I think that the windshield magnifies the sound from the front cylinder head. I've got about 10,500 on mine, of which I've put on 1,000 (Bought it with about 9,500 on the clock) and I noticed my '07 Honda VTX 1300r had the same knocking noise with the windshiel installed. Everything seems to be working fine.

Thanks all for your input. Ive had several bikes but not used to the sound of this one. Love the power and feel of this bike though, I will get used to the sound.
