Hey everbody just wanted to pop on and say hello. I just bought a 2006 Vstar 650 classic recently and was looking for some good forums to get information and meet fellow Vstar owners. Hey if anybody can help me I am looking to get a windshield. I am 5'6" tall and from what I have found out as far as what size i need a windshield 16"-18" from the cutout to the top. Thats where I can comfortably look over the top of the windshield. I am finding it rather difficult as to finding one that will work for me. Anybody have any suggestions as to what works good and where to find it.

I'm almost the same size and run a 21" windshield, don't go too short or it will not do you any good at all, the idea is to channel the wind over your head not directly into your face/helmet
I got the Star 21" and am very happy with it...makes a helluva difference
Windshield

Once read if the windshield is at nose hieght you will be able to look over top of it while the air will just pass up and over your head. This is the way my windshield is. I can wear a ball cap while looking over the windshield. Once and a while a bug will get me. I need to duck down in the rain. And a passing truck can take off the cap, but mostly I wear a helmet.

Sugar Bear has found that looking over the top of the windshield is a bummer for him, too much wind for sure, on his stock w/s, he has found lowers done wonders, world of difference.:)

Yep I need lowers too.....
Lowers

I agree on the lowers. I had Yamaha's chrome lowers on my 1100. They worked really well. I have Bucks lowers on my liner, they work well, not quite as well as the Yamaha. Both reduce turbulence behind the windshield.
