I used to post on a 650 board, and there were a lot of guys that would just buy them at Wally World or Autozone. You don't need a yamaha filter or a top name one. What is the best oil filter for my V-Star 650:
Stock?
K&N 145?
Other?

I know people that use $3 ones from Walmart and those that buy $16 ones from the yammie dealer. Both swear by what they use. This is one of those questions that you can get as many different answers as there are different filters by those that like what they use, it's one of those "what is best" things. I have never had a oil related failure. You can pay a premium price for a name brand,Wix, K&N, ect, or save some bucks and use what you want, the bottom line is change your oil and filter on schedule or before, I would say be more concerned with keeping the oil and filter clean than the brand you use.
