My '07 Custom has an oil filter convertion kit on it.Instead of the filter being in the crankcase it is mounted just below the horn and is easy to change. The filter is chromed and when I took it off to do an oil change I can't remove the inside part of the filter to replace it.The filter I got from my Yamaha dealer looks nothing like the one that is inside the chromed filter, anyone had this problem?

With an ork, you change the whole filter, just like a car. Unless you told the dealer you have a relocation kit on yours, he no doubt gave you the wrong filter. I am assuming here that the classic and custom have the same grief problem on changing the oil with stock oil filter. Some that fit my Barons ork: emgo 10-82220, that's crome. Fram 6017a, napa gold 1358, stpsdf13, purolator ml16817, wix has one too but I don't remember the number right now, your parts store can look it up. Hope this can help you some. Also K&N has one I think is 303c, thats crome too.

You will need to get the spin filter, unless you just have a crome cover.

Thank you for the reply.Yes it is a spin off filter 303c this is the first oil change I have done on the bike so in future will be a breeze. The dealer thought it was the standard filter.
