Had a couple of carb issues with bike (and no time to work on it) so bike sat for a few months. been tinkering with it this summer got it running well. Now getting an oil leak from the rear cylinder. Appears to be coming from just below the exhaust, or from the exhaust itself. and it is a definite drip not just a damp spot. I am guessing a leaky gasket and I am going to be pulling the engine apart. Anybody out there with some good news

Check the valve cover gaskets, the tensioner gaskets and where the oil line connects to the head on top.

You've got to determine where the leak is before you get good news....but unless you've done some serious damage to something there is usually no reason to remove a motor.

My guess is the valve cover right above the exhaust......go to NAPA with the old one and they'll match it up....it's just an O ring.

Mick's got a point. Be sure to check the oil line connection. Mine was just starting to seep when I saw a little oil layin on one of the cooling fins. Traced it back to the oil line. Snugged up the crush washer just a bit and all went away. Good luck and hope ya find the problem.

Thanks Mick. It took me a while to track it down but you were right it was the valve cover o ring. BTW the ring off a Mazda v6 thermostat works. And just in time . Finally getting cool enough to ride around here.
