Looking at hooking up some new pipes on my '98 Roadliner. I am considering the Hard Krome 3" Res Techs, seems that the 3" Big Straights are aggressively loud and the cops around here have a low tolerance for loud pipes. I do want the new pipes to louder than stock. I am concerned that the Res Techs will scrape and that they may not be that much louder than stock pipes. Considering the Cobra Speedster Slashdowns as well.

Hard krome

I do not see that many Roadliners/ stratoliners so I have never seen one I was sure it had 3" Hard Kromes. But you might want to lissen to this video. It is hard to judge a video because of Automatic level controls but, sounds like a ticket would not be out of the question. You might hang onto your stock exaust just in case. I see lots of post from happy owners here.

This one compairs stock with Hard Krome side by side.

Thanks for links. I like the tone of the pipes, but like you say, with leveling you can't really tell how loud they are. But an interesting comment below the video, he remarks that they so loud that he ordering a set of baffles at the request of his riding buddies. Hard Krome does make some good looking pipes.

Thanks,
RwB.

Runswithbears, Im not 100% that they are the same but I bought a set of Roadburner HardKrome 3" Blackhawks with the res tech system. there is a pair on ebay right now. I love the sound of em. They are subdued at idle with a nice rumble to them. Now If you really lay into it, they get loud!!! Now if you ride casually around town you will have no problem with the cops!
