Currently have a 2003 1100 Classic, which I really like....but looking at a 2008 Roadstar Silverado to upgrade to something with a little more power. Was wondering if there are any issues with this bike....it is my understanding that this is the first year Yamaha went to fuel injection. Any input would be freatly appreciated.

Nope. The only R* with any issues were the 99-03 which had a trans recall for the 4th gear retainer clip. All bikes have minor "quirks" but they're magnificent bikes. Only complication is if you want to upgrade the exhaust, you will have to keep in mind there are o2 sensors in the pipes that you will either have to make sure the new pipes have or have a shop drill out and tap.

Have you done any mods to your 1100? PODS, exhaust, jets?

I certainly understand the desire for more power, but I gotta say my '06 1100 has more than enough to get me into trouble. It's super easy to maneuver around town and at low speeds, but is more than happy to run at 85-100mph on the highway and has the ability to get my 240lb butt to that speed plenty fast.

Of course, I also own a Strat 1900 so I've got no room to speak . . . .

Thanks for the replies. I will keep the exhaust sitaution in mind. The Roadstar already has Cobra pipes on it.

As far as mods on the 1100...no, I have not. May look into that. The bike is sweet to ride in almost every situation...except at high speeds. Logically, I know the bike can handle it, but at high speeds, the bike seems stressed, and it causes me stress...it's a mental thing I know.

If the bike has cobras you should be fine if they were ordered for that year bike, bikes with fuel injection have O2 sensors, its part of the fuel management system for peak performance. Aftermaket pipes have the mounting hole already in place for the O2 sensor to screw in. Its easy to check.

very nice, with the matching mutazu bags as well!

I hate how they did away with the fender chrome in the later models. IMO it adds a lot of character to the bike and makes hte fenders look far less "plain". Passenger floorboards are also a really nice option. Looks like it has hte silverado tall windshield as well, and the ISO grips, which are the most comfortable grips I've ever seen.
