I've done a bit of lurking and searching, and haven't come up with any concrete answers. My question is, does anyone know what parts will swap between different Yamaha models? For example, it would appear at first glance that a rear wheel off a V-Max MIGHT fit an 1100 V-Star. Another example, while the speedo mounts are completely different, would a 650 tank fit on an 1100, and vice-versa? What engines might fit what frames? That sort of thing.

It would sure be nice to know what could be swapped where, as I prefer to mod my equipment with OEM parts where possible. Plus, you can often find one bike's parts MUCH cheaper than another model. I'm mostly interested in increasing the affordability of modding my ride while not potentially sacrificing reliability w/ some aftermarket parts.

If anyone has any information or opinions on this topic, please post 'em up! I think this has the potential to open up a lot of good information for everyone.

I have the same questions; also engine components - heads, pistons, etc. I just joined starbikeforums today and want to learn anything and everything. I'm an old fart who started riding again after 30 years!

Wow. Over a week and no one has any useful info to add? C'mon people! I might just have to buy a V-Max wheel and see if it fits. It's a crap-ton cheaper than a V-Star wheel on ebay.

OK. I found some mildly useful information. I ran across a fitment chart on vstar1100.com that lists compatibility of Yamaha accessories between the Star models. It's mostly just bolt-on and appearance stuff though. Still nothing with mechanical and body parts info yet.

The search continues.
