Passenger Seat After Market Cushions

Hi Folks,

My wifes only complaint so far about my new 950, is that the rear seat is not very comfortable, even though I purchased the OEM quick release Sissy bar and pad, she gets sore pretty quickly.

I was hoping to find someone in here that either has tried one of these passenger seat cushions or, knows someone that has one.

For the price, it sounds good, considering the Air Hawk Pillion cushions cost much more.

Any recommendations out there? I'm sure that I am not the only one in here that has a wife, that likes to go riding.

Same issue here with my 950 Tourer. It seems to me that the backrest is too far away for a start and the shape of the passenger pillon is just wrong for comfort, IMHO. I've been considering this route also until some better aftermarket seat options become available.
I went with the two piece wide touring seat from Mustang. I have to say i love it!! Plus my girlfriend never wants to stop riding now. lol
I went with the Ultimate seat and bck rest for my 1100 silverado. My girlfriend likes seat. She also likes the Mustang on my buddies Harley Dyna Wide Glide.

Did you get the Mustang touring seat with or without the driver's backrest? The driver's backrest sure makes it look comfortable, but I am wondering if it's worth another $150+ over the cost of the same seat without it. Getting a Mustang seat is next on my list of add-ons.

Where did you buy the seat? Did you do much price comparing?

Thanks....

I was wondering the same thing. The wife says her rear goes numb and we need to stop and stretch our legs on longer trips. I'm going to add passenger floorboards which will help, but I've got my eye on a new mustang seat. :D
Passenger seats

I think most if not all cruiser seats are designed for "That look." not comfort. Even my Stratoliner had a very narrow thin soft seat. I went to Yamaha's optional passenger seat. It was better, two inches wider and at least an inch thicker. The seat padding was also firmer. If the seat squashes down to nothing no cousin is left. Wife lasted longer but still did not last as long as I. We went to the two peace Mustang seat. The passenger seat was better yet. The shape of the seat is better having rounded edges. The foam started soft then firmed up as you compressed it. Also two inches wider than the original seat. Wife lasted longer still over either Yamaha seat.

Passenger floor boards also helped. I have Yamaha floor boards.

Lambs wool might help until you spring for the big bucks. Open up a lambs wool car wash mitt for a temporary pad. E Bay has some gel pads for wheel chairs that can be cut down. Keep in mind the passenger not as much sits on the seat as straddles it.

Hey, could not agree more with how the wife's seat needs fixed! I did not realize how uncomfy they are till this summer I sit on it parked, and thought how the hell do they ride as long as they do, they got to be tough, bless their hearts. Thanks, guys, for the ideas, I for sure will be makin changes for her on our 1100 silverado, SOON:)
Went today, talked to my local independant shop guy, he uses the Air Hawk cushion for his girlfriend, she loves it. I sit on it and thought it felt pretty good. I bought one, it is rather high, but it (I think) is much less than a new seat system (you do what you can do) I sure won't know till it warms up some but I do think it will be great compared to that rock ass hard board they call a passenger seat, it's a shame they(the companies) expect a person to sit on that thing for hours.
While I agree that stock seats are not very comfortable, I think there is some logic and upside to it. All motorcyle manufacturers need to keep their material and manufacturing costs down so that they can offer customers very good bikes at decent prices. Yamaha is a great example of this.

I would rather see them putting in the best technology and performance features (i.e. the high tech stuff) into their bikes and less into the low-tech stuff (seats, mirrors, footpegs, lights, grips, etc).

So far, they have done a pretty good job with this approach. We would be a lot less happy with a bike that performed like crap but had a great seat, than a good performing bike with a so-so seat.

I'm not sticking up for lousy seats, as buying a Mustang during the Winter is my next purchase, but I would rather change my seat than modify my engine, fuel system, etc..... ;)

Hi to everybody!
I was also thinking of purchasing Mustang seats for my DragStar, but price...
I am not ready to pay around 500 USD. plus delivery to Moscow.:)
I have an 06 custom and limited budget, after exhausting research, I decided on trying the buttybuddy for my girlfriend, I spoke with a few girls who own it and they like it. For only a $100 it is the better deal. When she is not riding with me, I can take off the passenger seat and have the solo look, which is why I like the bike in first place. I can ride for hours with the stock seat so no reason to change that.
If your rider's seat is fine for you, and the only issue is the passenger seat... then you may want to consider the butty buddy, we paid $99. My gf also complained that the backseat was uncomfortable, and rather than go out and spend several hundred dollars on new seat(s) (my seat feels great), we decided to try the butty buddy first for her. So far, after a three hour ride, she really likes it, and says the difference is night and day. I think I will get passenger floorboards next so she can shift her foot positions as well.
My wife and I both use motorcycle seat gel cushions by Ride Easy. We have ridden lots of miles and lots of long days. Pain and numbness are gone. We really like them.
