I am now the owner of a Brand New 2013 Road Star Silverado S.
The V-Star 1300 and the 1600 Nomad are no more. Traded in for my new baby.
I picked the bike up last Saturday from Burleson Power Sports in Burleson, TX. From what I gather it was a left over bike that hadn't sold so they marked it down to $9999.00 and I happened to find it via cycle trader. I had been looking at a new 2012 model in Weatherford but they wanted $2300 more. I swapped over my cup holder, throttle lock, GPS sleeve and engine guard chaps. I also took my drill out and drilled 8 5/16" holes around the exhaust plate and into the inner plate. Sounds much better and rides smoother too. I managed to put the first 32 miles on it Sunday before the weather dropped into the toilet again. This weekend it's supposed to be back into the 60's so more break-in miles.:D

This was a hard decision to make because I really liked my V-star 1300. I was originally looking at the Deluxe model for about same price but some of the guys I ride with owned Road Star & thought I would enjoy it more. I now have 85 miles and it's the most relaxing ride I've owned yet. Power rolls on smoothly and if I'm not paying attention I find myself speeding through town. Getting used to just leaving it in 4th gear.

Wiring harness

This weekend will be warm and a bit windy. Riding to work last couple of days I've managed to rack up 102 miles. Engine is smoothing out as it seats.
On another note: this weekend I will also be doing some welding and shaping to build a mount from the backrest post to install my Harley Tour Pak onto the bike. Eventually when I can afford to buy the Fairing I will opt to match the paint. The tour pak has a set of lights on the back and I want to hook them up. The Nomad had a connector that was easy to get to and install the additional wiring. Not so sure about the Silverado. Is there a handy wiring splice kit I can get to allow me to splice in the additional lights? :confused: Harley has something like that for their bikes...it's a Male/Female connector with pigtail wiring for installing a trunk as well as one to hook up the ignition and hot wire for the radio/fairing. I'm installing a shielded 5 wire cable for the turn, brake, park and grnd.
