Finally gave my wife the OK to buy me a bike for when I get home. Two summers ago I took the safety course and got the endorsement. Been researching and looking for the last six months figuring out what I liked and fit our criteria. While on leave we went to some dealerships and narrowed the search to the 650 Custom. Since then I've been looking for the right buy. Well that time has come and when I return home there will be a new V Star sitting in the garage :)
Drives me nuts that I will have to wait to enjoy it, but my time will come.
I would like to thank the forum members that have contributed their experience. This forum has been a valuable database of information that helped insure I made a decision I will be happy with.

Here is the picture from the website ad. It's a new 2010. As far as I know it's all stock. I want to throw some saddle bags on there, but gotta do something about those turn signals. I found a the turn signal bar that is with the license plate, but don't particularly like that. Anyone know of some more alternatives?

Oh I don't know about that, I think if you cut off the stock turn signals and go with the license plate/turn signal combo bracket it would look very nice. And you could get rid of the big round reflectors near the license plate too. The other option is to leave them where they are now but reduce the size of them to the bullet style turn signal lights.

Got a handful of goodies in the closet waiting for me. Got River Road saddlebags. Full face helmet with Bluetooth. A pair of matte black mirrors with turn signals. Leather Jacket.
I think I'm gonna try to integrate the turn signals into the bags. Not sure yet. Haven't found something I like to replace the rear turn signals yet.
I got an idea for setting up a powered USB hub in the bags. Plan is to take a hub with a few USB and a few cigarette lighter sockets and wire it up so I can keep my phone and helmet charged up with the hub in the bags, so it's out of sight and out of the way.
