My front brake is not a smooth pull. It is a little jerky when pulling the lever not free and smooth to increase braking. It's not horrible but, if a crisis should arise, I wonder if my braking control would be a little "off". I am going to flush the system with new fluid and hope that takes care of it but because the bike is a 1999 1100 custom and I have only had it for two years i wonder if there is sludge or "crap" in either the master or calipers after 15 years (14,000 miles). Is rebuilding the master a good play if the flush doesn't help or are the calipers more suspect and should be done first?

It also seems like rebuilding the master is not done but rather replacing. Is that correct?

Change the fluid. It should be done every 2 years anyway. There are rarely issues with master cylinders and calipers if you keep clean fluid in it. If that doesn't solve the problem, that is an indication of a more serious issue. But I'd just do first things first.

Works Great now!

I bled the brakes a lot, more than once on separate days, and there appeared to be some air in the system coming out my bleed tube. This could have come from the PO or the PO before him but problem solved!
