I bought a dynojet reject kit and I never worked on a carburetor before, can anybody give me some advice about rejetting. I also put on some Vance & Hines cruzers exhaust.

Here's a link to jetting instructions, with pictures.

I have used both the Dynojet and Maxair jet kits. I have found that the Dynojet kits tend to make the bike run a little on the rich side (poor fuel mileage). After switching to the Maxair kit my mileage increased by about 3-5 mpg. Not sure if it was just the jet kit or the addition of a more free flowing intake. I removed the stock airbox and replaced with cone shaped K&N's.
Hope this helps.
Hi! I am Tim - new here.

I just bought a 2001 that has a hesitation off idle when taking off aggressively. In the past we have adjusted the pilot jets (or the air bleed for low speed/pilot jet) on Mikunis for Jr Dragster racing.

I have not even looked at this carb yet... I am assuming it's a Mikuni or similar carb.

Is there a sure-fix any of you have discovered to fix the stumble when I "get on it" taking off in 1st gear?

Thanks!
Hi Tim and welcome.
The Vstars have dual carbs, Have you tried syncing them? here is a link to another sight with lots of information

Hey Nickcage, if you have a set of vance/hines exhaust, with a Dynojet kit, it is probably a good idea to take to a trained motorcycle mechanic. I have a 05 V star midnight custom and I put on a set of Cobra Dragsters and man it was popping and backfiring like all hell. I bought a Dynojet kit also, and with that certain kit to get the jetting correct the carbs have to be taken off and on several times. But when you get it right it really won't affect your mileage. I had it done, but I don't regret letting someone else do it. The mechanic that did my bike use a dyno to do it also.

Hey Nickcage, if you plan on putting on a hypercharger, I would do that first and then have it jetted. With a new set of pipes it changes the fuel mixture and then the addition of a hypercharger it changes it again. So if you plan of putting on a hypercharger in the future wait till then to have it rejetted. You will not regret it, if it is done right. My 1100 has both and it runs great and gets about 42 - 46 mpg depending on how I run the throttle.
Bus did they remove the AIS? That in conjunction with adjusting the PMS screw gets rid of the popping. I prefer to do alot of these relatively simple tasks (versus breaking the cases open). So if I break down on the road, I may be able to diagnose the breakdown, get back in the game and get home.
Yes the AIS was removed

Thats in the instructs of the rejetting kit. I don't like the AIS anway. I feel its problematic at best.

I did the same thing you did, I removed all the components and capped the heads.
