I am getting tired of the peep sounding stock horn on my Vstar. On more than one occasion I had a cager moving into my lane on the Hwy and my horn would be useless to warn them they were cutting me off. I am thinking of installing a Rivco air horn but am not sure if there is sufficient room. Has anyone installed a Rivco air horn on a VStar 1100?

I used a Stebel... I'm sure both types of air horns are similar. I purchased the "plug and go" harness so it was a very easy install. i connected the leads to the existing wires , so the horn button is still operable.

very happy with this mod.

Here are 3 quickie shots.

There is a very small mount on the back of the air horn. I needed to make my own bracket to mate the air horn to the existing horn mounting bracket on the frame. I found turning the horn length wise made for a better fit.

By turning the air horn length wise it allowed me to keep the wires somewhat protected and out of the way. Unfortunately the mounting bracket is on the left side close to the frame in the shadow. Still it was an easy bit of work to make a simple "L" shaped bracket, then drill a few holes, tighten a pair of nuts and bolts with some blue "Locktite". The wiring harness was a simple "plug and play" set-up.

There is more than enough clearance for the brake pedal to depress and my boot never comes in contact with the air horn at all. You can see the hex head just to the right of the air horn where it bolts through the air horn mount into the bracket directly behind it

This is just one way to go if you want an air horn. I'd recommend that you get both the low and high tones if you go with an electric horn rather than just one tone.

This air horn is damned loud and gets attention right away on city streets. It even makes an impression at freeway speeds.
