I have a 2008 Road Star Silverado 1700cc and I removed the end caps of each muffer by cutting the end tail pipe about two inches up from the end of the muffler with a Dreminl tool with a cutting blade on it, had to replace the cutting blade a couple of times. Then drilling a hold and inserting a sheet rock screw about 2" long and removed the end caps by prying with a hammer and a piece of wood. I am very happy with the results then sprayed with black paint. It sounds loud enough for me without being to loud. It is much cheaper than buying replacements mufflers which seem to be to loud for many people including me.
Hope this works for you.
