Just installed the mustang cruiser two piece with no backrest. What a difference and I was able to find it online for about 325. Worth every penny. It is such a deep seat that the back passenger part actually creates a lower back rest itself. The passenger seat is about two times the size of the original.
I did my research on all the seats out there and for the price this was well worth it.

Seat

I went with a Mustang two peace. Like it, the rider seat is a little better than stock. The passenger seat is a much better.

Still think some results can be had by just riding more and toughening up a little.

I like my Saddlemen's Explorer seat. Its a one piece made for a classic but fits the Custom.

You have to remove all the original seat hardware. I have to drop it fairly close to being on the bike to get the right angle for the front tabs to grab ( I have passenger backrest and drop the rear of the seat under the backrest pad to getit flat for insertion). It takes a firm push to get the tabs all the way in then it just bolts on the regular rear seat bolt. I used a stainless washer under the seat mount to spread the load out, the reat mount is slotted.

made my own

Was tired of looking at all these uber expensive seats, and decided I could make my own. And did. Fiberglass pan, simulated snakeskin vinyl. No sewing. (Hate having seams make that one area of your bum go to sleep!) I dont think I could have bought one that feels any better.

I installed the Yamaha Solo seat out of the Star catalog. The seat and I have many miles and it still feels great. Added a Ultimate rear for the girlfriend.
