Hi all i'm new to the forum and i was wondering if you think i should buy a 2005 Yamaha V Star 1100 Silverado from one of my local dealers? It has 11,000 miles on it with bags and a windshield paint and everything looks immaculate but they are asking $6,200. I think this is a little high but this is his bottom dollar he said. Kelly Blue Book has the bike priced at $5200 so this disturbs me. But at the same time dealers online who ship nationwide have almost the same bike for around the same price so is this just the going rate? From someone who's owned one of these bikes or a machine like it do you think this is worth the money? I've done my research and think a Yamaha Cruiser is the way to go I had a crotch rocket some time ago and i know this bike won't have that power but i'm in it for long rides and comfortability this time around with my wife. Any and all info is appreciated thank you.

Matt.

dealer

Matt,

All of the used bikes I looked at from my local dealer were more than Kelly Blue Book price. I guess some things to think about would be can the dealer give you a warrenty? Did he go over the bike? Are you gaining anything over buying from an individual? The how much could you buy the bike for new? 11,000 miles is not bad. Only you can decide. I think you could buy the bike new for $9,200. Does it have any extras? Look at the exhaust, you may or may not like it. It does not take a lot of extras to run the price up fast.

yea

everything seems pretty standard on the bike for a silverado im really thinking about going ahead and buying it. My buddy got a 2000 Harley Heritage Classic he'll never let me live it down but im def not going with a harley, too expensive. And money is an issue so im sticking with used. Can't wait to get on the road!

Last year, I bought a 08 silverado leftover. It had all the upgrades I wanted, plus I got the bike for less than 1/2 of what I would have spent on a Harley, not to mention the Vstars are very, very reliable. Tell your Harleys buddies, you'll ride along with them to make sure that when their trusty steed lets them down (and it will) you'll be there to give them a ride back so they can get their truck to pick up their broken bike.... :D

I just bought a 02' V Star classic 1100 from a private owner. It had less than 4k on it and about $1500 in goodies... seats, pipes etc.. and looked like it just rolled off the line. Paid $5k and well worth every penny in my opinion.

I think I would ask for some sort of a warranty from the dealer. But it sounds like a pretty good deal. As for long life of the bike they run for ever. And they don't melt in the rain like a harley.

My wife and I bought our '02 V-Star 1100 Silverado from a local dealer back in February. The bike is almost as gorgeous as my wife, with just about every chrome accessory in the Yamaha catalog as well as some others. It had 21k on it and it was clearly meticulously maintained. The dealer was actually asking $200 UNDER blue book. I think we got a heck of a deal, paid $4900 AND received a $200 store credit from the dealer. So far we have 3500 miles on it (keep in mind we're in northern Wisconsin and riding season doesn't start until April or so) and absolutely love it, it's the best investment we've made. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I bought my 06 Classic from an individual with 11500 on the clock. Cobra shotguns, Hypercharger, Saddlebags, Switchblade windshield and some other goodies. $3000 and she was mine.

There are some good deals out there if you just hunt for them.
