I'm looking for a tall sissy bar w/luggage rack for my 2004 V-Star 1100 Classic. I have a short sissy bar, but my wife would like a taller one & I really would like to have a luggage rack. The one on there is an Italian-made model & can't find a luggage rack that fits. I figure I'll have to get a new sissy bar & a luggage rack.

Anybody know the best place to get one?

Hi Griz;

I've had the best luck on eBay. Got a tall, removable, sissy bar with luggage rack included for $66.00. It takes patience and lots of bidding.

My wife needed the same thing, get the pad out of her lower back and up under her shoulder blades for a more comfortable fit.

I went an easier route that casting about on FEEbay. I had a friend cut the sissybar add in a pair of 6" bar stock and weld it back together.

He did a damned fine job. And all it cost me was an ice-cold 6pak of his favorite beer.

Planning on getting that entire unit sissybar - luggage rack - mounting frame - saddlebag brackets powdercoated satin black to tie into my overall color scheme

Trunk

Fulltilt,

I have been looking at those and the ones on E Bay. I worry about a couple of things. One being is the mount for the luggage rack strong enough. I saw a post where one broke in the flat metal part of the rack mount. I think the problem might be the passenger hitting it hard in a bump.

The other thing they have plastic hinges. The thousand dollar one has metal hinges and two locks. I say a thousand because if I buy the mounting brackets, delux back rest, and rack on the top that's what it adds up to. But if I buy the $200 one and it brakes I wasted my money.

I have been putting off making a decision all winter. I know someone that has the Scootworks trunk. It is nice.

I agree most times you get what you pay for. I was just giving a look see. I'm waiting on a longer term, to see how they hold up in the next six months. A Harley vibrates way more and if they hold up there they might hold up anywhere. Both sets from the pics seemed kinda thin on the side walls. If you can get some measurements and thickness to compare against and I'll do the same.

GRIZ--Laggage Rack

Yamaha makes a rack for you bike that doesn't bolt to the sissy bar. It will bolt to the passenger's seat stud and the tail light/tag. I'm guessing you don't have OEM sissybar? I have not seen a after market set up for v-star. Yamaha is a good place to get part's
