I have a V Star 650 that I got a month or so ago and I've noticed it has a pretty strong smell of gasoline. I especially notice when it's parked in the garage, some days as soon as I open the door I'm hit with the smell, other times it's not until I'm close to the bike. No puddles/leaks underneath at any time and I'm not seeing any leaks from the cap either.

Thoughts?

It happened to me when I had my 650, I was actually overfilling the tank. The smell was really strong on humid days while sitting in the garage.

Have the same problem. Just replaced all hoses and clamps (used FI hose and good clamps). God bit of the smell went away. Next will be the seal on the cap

Its possible you are not use to having a vehicle with carbs and float bowls. Everything is fuel injected today.

Ive noticed it when I go to cruise night and everyone brings their vintage (pre 1980) cars, you smell gas vapors.

If your garage is sealed up really well its more noticeable.

You still might have a cracked gasket on the gas cap, but unless the gas is leaking out or flooding into your oil its not a big deal.

and ditto on filling the tank up all the way - dont fill it to the top and then park it. The gas will come out through the filler cap gasket all over the tank.

If you see wet gas anywhere, fix that.
