I can buy Boss Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Kenwood, and probably a few more dirt cheap. I have been looking at these:
https://www.bossaudio.com/auto/car-audio-sound-system-auto-stereo-speaker-boss-audio-p69-4c/

They are not officially "marine" speakers.... but I dont live on the coast with salt in the air. And they are made from exactly the same construction as a typical marine speaker. Why couldnt I use these in my new Fairing.....?
Any other recomendations?

Personnally i would go with a marine grade speaker.. I've been caught in the rain on a ride and it's funny what the wind does to water at 100kph(60mph). I have a speaker pod set up and trust me.. they get wet and they are on the handlebar under the batwing.. Might cost ya a little more now but look at the hassle of changing them with no warranty after one rain storm. You might get lucky and it not happen or you'll spend double or more on the second set.

Just my $0.02.

I appreciate your input. I have been looking at the boss MR692B marine speakers also. What is ball park RMS watt rating I should be looking at for a audio fairing. I will amplify if needed and from what I read it is needed. My pipes are quite loud. And I want to overcome wind noise clearly at 70mph. Thoughs on amps? I know room is a factor also....

Any small amp that has about a minimum 20w RMS will do just fine.. that should give you a peak of about 100-200w per side. That would be plenty. The stock Deluxe audio package on the Vstar has a 14w RMS just to compare.

Just remember when buying an amp it will generate heat and it will need fresh air flow.:) Placement is everything.

OK now Im really lost. All of the amps Ive read about with reviews have 100-150 rms. The stereo alone will be 20 RMS will it not? Man this crap is confusing. I'd like to just find out what speakers and amps people are running. Then I can match the spec of those amps with what I can get and my BOSS marine speakers.

The radio amplification will not have an effect on the amplifier output RMS .
High input ( speaker wire output from radio) to amplifier will be filtered by the amp to get a cleaner sound.
Low input ( RCA connection) does not need the filtering and does not go through the radio amplifier.

Google a car stereo basic wiring to understand the connections better.

A simple amplifier with 100w X 2 will work well for a fairing set up. The 100w is stated as Max output per channel. RMS will be lower than MAX output.

So you need a 200-400w MAX output amplifier for your Fairing.

Don't mean to confuse you.. unfortunately price vs quality vs power output can effect choices. Amplifiers are always advertised as MAX power output.

Thanks for the link to that post. I searched amp and speakers the other day and that discussion didn't pop up.

More options

Thoughts on this. Cause I like the way it works. And with not putting a head unit in there is a pile of room for the amp. Even though this amp is small. I will make a Aluminum plate to cover the head unit hole and place this small controller in it. I don't listen to the radio.

I read on another forum (don't recall which one) that the Frog Toggs material can be used as water proof speaker covering.
One direction allows sound to pass, but not water.
It was a bagger forum and the discussion had to do with putting speakers in the saddle bag lids.
