2005 V-Star 1100 received Cobra Speedster Slashdown pipes with quiet baffle; a Dynojet Stage 1 carb installation; AIS removal kit installed. During the test ride after these installations, which occurred all at once, the speedometer/odometer unit stopped working. It doesn't work at all. All the idiot lights on the panel work as do the headlight, turn signals; check engine light; high beams light; kill switch; oil light. Starting is no problem and riding is normal except for the extra power in the mid and upper ranges. The speedo doesn't work. Any ideas of what might have happened? All plugs are connected, including tank plug and carb plugs which are always reconnected. May use continuity tester on the harness. I note that the guage cluster can be removed from the tank for diagnostic work--

you might check under the drivers seat that is where the electrical connection for the speedo and dash lights, also you may have a pinched or cut wire under the tank. the fuel tank and the seat must be removed so you can access the air box and carbs. dont think that the exhaust mod and ais change could have interfiered with the wiring harness, but with the carb modification you have to disconnect the harness to the speedo and such. happy hunting!
