Has anyone else experienced similar to this:

Was out on the bike most of the day yesterday and bike was running great (03 Roadstar) and then after coming home and getting dinner we decided to make an icecream/gas run. Experienced the above issue where you hit the starter and you clearly hear it spinning - all the rest of your stuff is working fine and still no start. Sigh. Hooked up the battery tender to rule that out and full battery and same issue. Pretty sure it is the above and thought I'd see if y'all are familiar...

Thanks Miescha. Well...the good news is, we started taking things apart according to these instructions and sure enough - this is what is wrong with the bike. This is a YAY - because it's the cheaper fix of the two possibilities we had narrowed to.

For those of you with 03 and older Roadstars....take my advice (and that of the guy from the roadstar clinic) and make this "fix" or "upgrade" to your bike so this doesn't happen to you when you are far from home. I guess I'm lucky this happened in my driveway.
