"Doc", from another forum I'm on, and I meet for breakfast in Bandera this morning and a ride afterwards. First, want to thank Doc for showing a new area resident some great roads and not running away and leaving me, hopefully I didn't slow him down too much. So Mexican Breakfast Tacos was on the menu, we got our taco ate along with several cups of coffee to wake us up. Doc had a nice route planned out. I had ridden most of the roads before, but not in the direction we went. Going the way we did showed me totally different view of the country side. We took a road he hadn't gone before and turned out to be a nice stretch with views. We stopped for lunch at the Bent Rim Grill which is on the Twisted Sisters in Leakey. I've got a few hours of video I'll edit down and post later. Here's the Relive of ride

and a few pictures.

Here's the video from today. Unfortunately lost about 90 percent of the footage due to sun reflecting off chrome headlight and windshield totally washing out the video. First time I tried this camera angle, and it was a fail. Definitely a work in progress. Guess Doc and I just need to take another ride. Here's what I salvaged.

Heard a rumor about 9 months ago from a source of unknown reliability that the Bent Rim was shutting down....glad to see they haven't. I now know that particular source might not be so reliable.:censored:

They shut down except weekends until 4 weeks ago. They are slowly getting back up and running.

Is that a new camera? Looks like a GoPro or a GoPro style? Or is that your phone mount?

The vibration sound, was that the winbook camera, was it shutting off on you? I know it makes that sound when turning on and when it auto shuts off but never heard it captured on video.

That's my phone mount. Still using the same Winbook. The vibration sound I heard also, that's me turning the camera off. On a longer ride, I turn off and on every so often as I find it easier to move and edit multiple smaller files than one big one. It's a me thing that works. So with the camera being on right, I reach up with throttle hand to turn off, then back on. The exhaust is being behind that elephant size trunk it's pretty quiet with throttle off. I'm going to have to think this out. I moved helmet mount to right side, have my Bluetooth on left. On my new modular helmet I can't put both on one side and be user friendly, I tried.

Remember past few years with Electra Glide I was wired for music, now I'm Bluetooth. Here's another issue, camera view shows to much of faceshield how it's mounted. Can't move forward due to modular flip up. It's OK, but I don't like seeing it in video. I could extend camera out some, but I'm bad about hitting it on stuff when helmet is off. Then the sun reflects off chrome headlight housing big time. I also don't like the video thru windshield. Got used to a shorter batwing fairing that I was looking over, yes they make them that short, but wanted a taller windshield for better wind management. I've yet to find a place to mount camera on front of bike. I mounted same place on fork/turn signal area that I did on HD and Vulcan. Fits well there, but since the trike front end is racked out the view showed way to much front fender. I've moved both cameras about at least a dozen times, just can't find one that I like. I will, just haven't taken the time. When I find time, it's just been too hot to mess with it.

Looks like not. You'll just have ride over and help with the deck construction, I reckon.
:happynod:
All y'all have to do is come over. Even if you don't bring your bike, I have two, and we'll ride over, I'll buy you a burger to celebrate the deck work we got done. Or if you time it just right, you could help on the second concrete pour. This pour is 13 yards, so any help would be great. If you get tired I've got a spare bedroom. I would even take you down so we could drive on the lake. Then we could feed the deer, but you can only shoot with a camera.

But, who's the kid with Doc?
Good one!! Mean, but good. Carla and I are sitting outside, she comments that all the deer are bigger than me. I just can’t win.

The only thing with feeding and gathering the Deer is that you're inviting in their natural predator's, like Wolves. What would be the Deer's natural predators in your area?

Thanks Les. I wonder if your camera is louder with that vibration now after the “bump” it took….
I had my camera mounted the same but I had it out just alittle from the helmet with one of the mounts that came with it. You can see alittle of the helmet but wasn’t too distracting.
I think one you have the time when you retire (hehe) you will rig a nice mount like on the last HD…

I've run two game cameras for over a year, before any land improvements were done and currently. I'm sure we have multiple predators around here, but fox are the only ones that visit daily.

We don't get much in the way of wildlife here in the city even though my house is relativily close to the Sandia foot hills, I'm in the heights just below the foothills. What we do have here are some resident Roadrunners, in the city their most dangerous predator are cats.

If you've never seen one up close they're about 2' from tip of the beak to tip of the tail.

Rode my bike to church, a couple of friends go there and thought I'd check them out. Afterwards I road up to Bien Mur Travel Center to get my cigs, it's on the Sandi Indian Reservation across from their Resort and casino. Get my Native brand for $35 a carton plus they're one of the cheapest gas stations around.
Started the camera when I was northbound on Tramway Blvd which parallels the Sandia Mountains to the east then turns west down into the Rio Grande Valley. Open fields on either side (west/eastbound) where often there are bison grazing, didn't see any this trip. I'm uploading the return trip where you get a great view of the Sandias. Going to have to adjust my camera better.
Here's the ride to the station:

I stopped it just before I turned into the travel center.

Took my ride to the harbor this morning. It's a spot I found overlooking the channel into the inner harbor. I like to sit and watch the harbor traffic, and contemplate my navel. Had a Sea Lion frolicking in the channel this morning. Just kept cruising up and down the channel, fishing I guess.

Very active spot. To my right on my side of the channel is the Harbor Pilot baseops. To my left, tug boats moor up. Across the channel is a Coast Guard base, and Terminal Island Fed Prison is over there too. Behind me is Los Angeles Warehouse 1, which was built in the 1910's, and I've posted photos of it before. It is popular these days with film production companies. You can google the warehouse and learn of its history.

Anywho, I come down here when I need an easy morning ride. Not too many people know of this little seating and viewing area.

Looks like @bpounds and @kje54 had some nice rides. @kje54, was that rain clouds to the left in second video by the mountains. If so, if you didn't want it, I'll gladly take it. I'm surprised you don't wear gloves, back of my hands get sunburned if I don't. @bpounds, you home from vacation? And didn't stop by my place? Could have used the help. The water sure did look nice and blue, very pretty.
