I feel like i am "rubbing it in" i rode again today, you guys will get your chance. it starts to turn hot here April roughly, May, June, July, August, part September it's HOT here in Arizona. Today however it was great here, talked to other bikers, lots and lots of bikes out riding today. Waved a lot to groups of bikes to the point i just left the hand out waving awhile riding one handed lol.
Low fuel light came on at 145 miles got gas at 163.2 miles. 163.2/3.699 = 44.12 mpg.

Ran into and spent some time talking to a guy on a Yamaha 1200, forgot to ask what model it was, looked like an adventure bike. I do remember the guy saying he had the ECU flashed. I rode it like there was no tomorrow! Got a haircut on the way home, I was a walk-in and got a "Yes".

Got a short ride in. Plan was for a longer ride but way to much traffic. I normally don't ride on weekends, but was to nice a day not to.

Here's first half video of today's ride. This is from cabin to Garner Park, about an hour ride.

Beautiful weather in the SE corner of Texas today, partly cloudy, temperatures between 68° and 71° from about 1130 to 1700. Plan was to go get the scavenger hunt target and then grab some lunch after church. Checked the scavenger hunt thread before taking off and saw that @Jo hart beat me to the target, but we were still hungry, so off to lunch. On the way to lunch I zigzagged around a little looking for Jo Hart's new target, but the places I thought might have a marquee did not. Made it to the Pine Tree Lodge in LaBelle for a bite to eat and as we were finishing a zydeco band cranked up. Pretty good band, but they had a problem with the front of house speakers which really messed up their sound. I think they were impervious to the issue since their stage monitors were apparently working and they could hear themselves. Having played in front of many folks of unknown technical abilities I always hated seeing some random audience member approaching the stage to offer their sketchy advice and usually incorrect solution(s) to whatever problem they thought they should help with (usually in the middle of a song while I'm trying to play/sing/tweak the mix/etc.), so I waited a few songs to see if they or one of their entourage figured it out. It didn't happen, so I eventually approached the stage as subtlety as I could and was able to convey to the guy that looked like he was in charge that their front of house speakers weren't working. The band kept on playing while he did some troubleshooting, ran back to his stash of extra cables and swapped one out without success. He finally got it partially resolved by making some changes at the amp rack, but never got the vocals where they should been in terms of volume. I still enjoyed their playing and song selection, sometimes using multiple squeeze box players and being generally entertaining, sure would have been better if their sound was fixed. If I can figure who they were maybe I'll see if they want to hire me to run sound for them.....LOL

After killing an hour and half at lunch we took off for Beaumont as I hoped the marquee at the Jefferson Theater might have a musical act posted on it Got there and yesterday's act was still posted so I got lucky there. The Mavericks are scheduled to play there February 10 and I was hoping to get a big name act on the marquee, but no. Oh well.

Still having GoPro problems, maybe I can find some decent video, but probably nothing exciting. Not too much exciting riding around the Gulf Coastal Plain anyway.....pretty flat and straight.

So after my run to Garner Park I decided to head home via on of the Twisted Sisters legs. This is my favorite section and try to ride it often.

Got a short ride in today. Carla's debit card was compromised, 🤬 , the other day and needed a new one. She was told it would be 7 to 10 days if mailed or we could go into San Antonio and get it immediately. A few minutes later I see her walking into living room with helmet in hand shouting "let's go". We took a scenic route on the way there and more direct way home. Was a little windy but temps were great.

I see, you were kidding about it being a "short ride" 😁. 4+ hours and 120.8 miles is not short! :D

Took the backroads up the hill for the first time since the winter started. I didn't intend to go as far as I did. I got up to where there was snow (thankfully not on the road). I didn't really prepare, since I wasn't intending to go that far. Damn, it was COLD!

Rode a pleasure ride for the first time since the bike was serviced. It rode the same except the brakes were noticeably better since having them do a front and read brake fluid change. I have 1/2 of the front brake pads left, rear pads 95% (i did them myself) recently but bled them but didn't do a total fluid change, maybe 50%. Nice to know they have 100% fluid change now and checked.

Ride was good although it was pretty windy and 63F out. Supposed to be in the 70F+ for the next 3-4 days, its about time. Quite a few bikes out, some waves, talked to another biker who i had met before up at the Trailhead. Got gas on the way out, 134/2.85= 47.0 mpg. Stopped at grocery store on way home, The saddlebags were loaded up to the max.

Just got home, it's 6:25pm. Normally i would have not ridden on the weekend because there is no reason too, lot of cars out. It b broke 70F today with a fair amount of Sun, which i needed, bad! Forecast brings it back into the high 50F's (and lower) and rain this coming week, it was now or wait. It did me good to ride, plus i wasn't done testing the bike since it was serviced recently.

Left around 1pm 70F according to weather channel (online), felt warmer. Bike performed well, passed a lot of cars, waved to a bunch of other bikes. Something happened up at the Trailhead as they had the road closed totally with barriers, in the process of trying to find out, thought of someone hurt or worse, but i don't know yet. Hope my initial thoughts are wrong.

I rode all afternoon, got Gas on the way home, 148/3.36 = 44.04 mpg.

I hope it wasn’t closed for something bad. Maybe a movie scene.
While people have been killed up there, or shot by accident before I think it has to do with
the Spartan Races taking place in the area 2/25-2/26. They just want to stop ATV use during this event and have stationed cops in the area, blockades etc. I think, from what i can tell.

Haven't ridden since February 5 due to yucky weather, various household minor illnesses, conflicting schedules and need of a new rear tire. Finally got the tire mounted that's been in my garage for 9 months and the weather was good today, so off we went. Being a nice weekend meant there were a good number of others with the same thoughts and then a bunch of cagers who must have just been bored so they were out seeing if they could do stupid things and keep me on my toes.

Weather started out clear and warm, touching 78° about 20 miles north of the house. Then, we must have passed through a front as things went to cloudy and cooler and by the time we got to Madisonville (approximately 75 miles further north) it was 64° and we were both wishing we had dressed a little warmer. Needed to add some layering to the T-shirts and mesh jackets, but had none. After lunch we started heading south in search of another forum's scavenger hunt target and we luckily found sunshine and warmer temperatures pretty quickly, making for a nice ride the rest of the day. The new Avon Cobra Chrome rear tire performed above expectations and if wet performance and mileage are as expected I hope I will never have to put OEM Bridgestones on the SVTC again, unless supply chain issues force me to.

As i look at the pic i last posted of the "Road Closed" barrier i noticed now that there is a four page of what looks like an explanation posted of what's going on (why is the Trailhead closed), I should have simply read it, but i didn't notice it at the time. Maybe has something to do with me taking a pic of the sign with a cop there, with his lights going no less.

I could see going up there today and reading it but it rained all night and i normally don't ride the day after a big rain. We'll see but prob not.
