The little carport housing the Road Star survived the snow. The cover for the V-Star did not.
Any damage or just getting wet?

Rode a couple hundred miles to our overnight in San Marcos. Tomorrow morning going to the Police Bike Chute-Out (Cotpmco) competition in Buda (just up the road) and watch those guys show off and make me think I should sell my bike and go back to less challenging transportation. Oh well, maybe something will rub off by just watching them.

Weather today was great in terms of temperature (68 to 73F all day) and clear blue skies. Only downside was gale force winds almost all day from the north. Ruined my gas mileage when pointed north and blew me all over the road when hitting from the sides. Tomorrow should be same skies and temperatures but less wind.....thank goodness.

Finally got some decent weather, its been raining for nearly a week or it was in the low 50'sF. It was confirmed today with other bikers, this winter has sucked, no two ways about it.

Anyway, it was finally a high of 67F and Zero rain, I rode. The trailhead was open. The consensus was it was water that closed the Trailhead last week, the washes got flooded. So the Spartan Races didn't get a vote. So assume it was flooded a bit

Nice to get out and get some Sun. Hopefully we'll get a month of good weather before it gets hot. Stayed out all afternoon, just got done eating the Sub i brought home.

Went to the Police Chute Out in Buda and watched professionals handle big bikes like the were Schwinn Stingrays. Those guys are good. Didn't hear Donnie Williams' name called out, but they had 147 contestants from Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico (that I heard, maybe others as well) and I probably only saw 30 or 40. Some of them were as good as the video @Yamaha Pat posted. A couple were not. Saw one or two feet touch the ground and a couple of cones got hit, but many of those guys were just blasting through the course without issue. One poor fellow went all the way down, but all the course marshalls just watched as I guess the rules are you have to finish the ride on your own. Felt bad for him and it took him a couple of more feet down and cones hit before he recovered his composure and finished the course without further issues. But his body language conveyed maximum pissed off. They are a competitive bunch.

Relive of today's ride cut off at Dayton for some reason, but that last 15 miles to home are pretty boring (most of the time). And the bluebonnets weren't in full bloom yet even in their usual hotspots. I think it just a couple of weeks to early to get the really big show.

After breakfast this morning Carla and I were sitting there trying to decide which task needed to be done today. We kept looking out the window at a sunny, 80 degree day and both concluded it was just to nice not to go for a ride. So we headed out to ride around the Twisted Sisters area. We normally don't ride that area on weekends as too many "want to be" racers are out there. Luckily for us there were actually not many bikes out, but a lot of car clubs which are actually worst because they have a hard time staying in their lane. We road for a while, stopped and got some ice cream, stopped one other time before getting dinner on way home. The video below has the Relive video at the beginning then some of my helmet cam video. I shot a lot of video from the bike cam, but sun washed out a lot of it. The helmet camera had less sun washout so I used that. Was definitely a great day to ride.

A few pictures. Seems like we eat alot.

@AlanRides, looks like a nice ride. How bad did you show everyone up? Wonder if they could ride on a dirt road as good as you do?

LOL. I stood there, mostly mouth gaping open, watching them do things on Road Kings and big BMWs that just amazed me. One of the competitions was for them to maneuver through a set of cones set up like an open plus sign with no side longer than the motorcycle itself. They would basically ride into the plus sign and then turn left to exit. To do that they were mostly stopped and balancing, literally inching their along. Those guys would win any slow contest I've ever seen. Saw multiple guys guys sit at a dead stop, both feet on the pegs/floorboards, for 5 or more seconds at a time, then creep forward just a few inches, yank the bars as necessary, stop again, move the bars, etc until they completed the turn. I think they were scored on not hitting the cones, no feet on the ground and the one that took the longest to finish getting from putting the front wheel into the "plus" and the rear wheel leaving the "plus" sign won. I didn't time them, but I'm guessing the best ones were taking 20-30 seconds to make the 2 bike lengths. Amazing control. I can't find that particular competition on YouTube and my description does it no justice, but the cones are set up something like this:

Somewhat to my surprise I only saw one police Goldwing in the paddock, but never saw it run.

To answer your question, they could ride anywhere on earth better than me. After watching them I tried to emulate some of their moves on our way home and Leslie would only tell me I needed to get some training. And she's right.

Every so often, one is reminded of why. In this case, it is why I love Brahma so dang much.

On the way home from work today, my visor opened on the right side. I had to hold it with my left hand until I could find a safe spot to pull over on the expressway. Once I had the issue corrected, I looked in the mirror to find a solid line of traffic moving at roughly 80mph. I thought, oh no, how am I getting back into the flow. Then this feeling welled up from underneath me. I felt the Rocket III vibe starting to come alive. Oh yeah, I remember now...

I rolled forward a few feet till an opening about three car lengths arrived. By the time I was shifted into second gear, a (second or two later) I was needing to ease off the go-handle as the car in front was a tad too close. Brahma reminded me why...

Cooler than forecasted by a few degrees, felt like 68F (forecast 74F), rode with tee-shirt and wasn't too bad, wish there was more sun though, did my usual approx 70 miles. Stayed out most of the afternoon and again just ate the Sub i brought home. Got gas too 139/2.9 = 47.9 mpg.
Got a chance to talk with a few Bikers. Funny as i almost went with a Camo sweatshirt but changed at the last second to a dayglo green tee-shirt.

Snow has almost completely melted, rain showers have stopped for today. I took BOTH bikes out, as they needed to be ridden (I usually take only one out per day). The Road Star killed at a stop sign and had the occasional decompression solenoid problem and wouldn't start. Easy to take care of, take the cover off of the solenoid and manipulate the "spoon". Fires right up. Snow showers overnight and rain showers off and on again for the next week or so.
