OK folks. Riding season is globally upon us, and most people are out with their knees in the breeze rather than poring over an indoor forum. So...

When you get home with your good (or otherwise) experiences and pix from the day, post them here with a short narrative so we can all share. And if you didn't ride today, but have some experience/pix from a past ride you'd like to brag about (or forget about:)) this is the place to author a memory, a safety experience, or just reminisce.

What say?:) Bevo promised to stick it so that it will be cumulative if we can gin up some ongoing interest.

Been completely bummed and jealous with @lesblank and @Brad_G's adventures the last 5 or 6 days, so I decided to take a day off from adulting and worrying about yucky weather and just go waste some hydrocarbons. I've been by the statue of Sam Houston on I-45 many times since it was built in 1994 but never stopped to look closely, so finally took time to do that. While at the visitor center there I saw a poster about the Mr. Hamburger restaurant a few miles away in Huntsville located right across the street from the released prisoner's exit door of one of the Huntsville State Prisons. It's claim to fame is that it is very popular with the newly freed folks getting their first "taste" of freedom. Add to that one of their burgers was called "Old Sparky" (named after the now retired Texas electric chair) I just had to find out. Turns out it is a breaded, deep fried hamburger patty with the normal condiments plus "Texas Summer Sauce" which adds a nice kick without being overwhelming. Not necessarily healthy, but pretty good tasting.

Having to get used to the little blind spot "button" mirrors I recently installed on the factory mirrors. They help with my view of what's going on behind me, but as I do my normal visual scan of the road conditions I found that the extra "information" in the mirrors would catch my eye and make me think something was happening right next to me. I'm sure I'll get comfortable with it in short order and the extra view will be worth the learning curve.

Got lightly sprinkled on a couple of times, but not enough to get anything other than the windshield slightly wet.

I'm now well overdue for an oil change, so that's on tomorrow's agenda for the predicted rainy morning.

Thankfully no, wasn’t adding to to the tree of shame, just taking a picture as a reminder to ride your own ride, at your own abilities and don’t try to keep up with your group or anyone else that goes screaming by or coming up quick and thinking you are slowing them down….
It was a great day and ended with the Cherohala Skyway…

That sounds like some nice riding. I've always heard the weekend isn't a great time for the dragon because or the numbers of bikes or sport cars. Was there much traffic when you were there?

Rode to the 2023 Texas Meet & Greet in Belton yesterday and then back home today. Haven't looked at any of the GoPro video but nothing too exciting happened. If I find anything good I'll post later.

The Relive from Saturday. @Brad_G joined us in Bryan and rode the rest of the way into Belton with us. He got to see a Bucee's fuel/food/souvenir shop/zoo for himself and declared it "crazy" or something similar. I agree, as will everyone in Texas familiar with the Bucee's chain. They do have the cleanest restrooms.....

The Relive from Sunday. Once again, @Brad_G joined us in Bryan, except this time going the opposite direction. Rode a few miles in the Sam Houston National Forest on our way in. He says he's not used to seeing 75 MPH speed limits on 2 lane black tops with no shoulder. But, I think he'll agree it makes for more smiles per mile. We will do some SE Texas Piney Woods riding tomorrow and maybe more.

There really wasn’t much traffic. I think we were there at the right time. Or I think maybe everyone thinks the same and stays away on the weekends. Also the weather was supposed to be rainy and cold and there was a thunderstorm went thru early morning. So we really had open roads.
but the many times I have been there it was never really overly crowded so I must be hitting at the right time.
I had a great ride after the Tail of the Dragon, I headed over to the Cherohala Skyway a never caught up to another bike or car.
I did notice that the speed limit was 30 but I don’t remember if the whole way was. If so, this will make for a great road crappy…

@Brad_G and I rode some of the Piney Woods today. Stopped at the Lake Livingston Dam just to take a break and a few photos and then went the long way around to The BurgerHouse in Colmesneil. Just a little hole in the wall place, but ridiculously good burgers. @Jspree's cardiologist would have the place condemned if he could and I'm sure my cholesterol has gone up since consuming my "Bully" burger today. 1/3 pound of meat, 6 pieces of bacon, fried onion rings, jalapenos, pickles with mayo, mustard, cheese and all the other fixings and washed down with a Dr. Pepper. Oh well, I'll have to do some extra exercises someday to make up for it......

Well there is a stark difference in the areas. But thankfully each has it's own charm. I've enjoyed my rides and the guides have been excellent. :happydance:

I can only imagine that riding through the Ozarks, the hill country, the mid-state plains and some of the piney woods in the last 7 days could cause some disorientation. I think we'll pass on the Gulf Coast and hit deeper into the woods tomorrow. Don't want to overwhelm him with too much information to process after all.... ;)

Look at we found on the side of the road........it looks like we were just a little late to the pig roast.

You might have to zoom in little on the thing just above the dashboard (I can't figure out how to do it before posting.....)

Rode yesterday with @Brad_G with the intent to wander deep into the Piney Woods to San Augustine and then loop around west Louisiana and see the Toledo Bend and Rayburn Dams. Weather had an entirely different plan for us, so we turned south and west way earlier than planned. Still managed to see the Rayburn Dam and reservoir and got some nice miles in. Relive bombed (mostly operator error), so none for this ride.

Today was Brad's last day in SE Texas, so got a few miles in the deep woods, visited Sam Houston for a few minutes and then to lunch @ Yankee's Tavern in Carlos (and got rained on, just a little). So happens that Yankee's is about 15 miles from Brad's daughter's place, so we parted ways there after 3 days of some nice, some wet, but always enjoyable cruising around this piece of Texas. I'm pretty sure the rain is stalking Brad since I had nothing but sunshine and partly cloudy skies on my ride home after parting ways with him. Go figure.

Set a new personal best for miles on one tank (after just setting a personal best a week or two ago) with 242.2 miles on 5.821 gallons. The SVTC trip odometer changes and displays "F:" and starts counting miles up from 0 when the low fuel light comes on. Not sure what the "F:" stands for, maybe "Feed me Fuel you Fool". The "F:" counter got up to 25.8 miles before I filled up while the "miles to empty" display on the Infotainment center finally gave up and said "LOW" after getting as low as around 35 miles to go on the display. First time I can remember getting on the freeway and locking the cruise control on the speed limit
