Thinking about buying an Eluder GT

971 Views 42 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  richard75013
I've ridden for many years and have owned all different types of motorcycles.

I'm going to look at an Eluder GT this week as possible replacement for a Kawasaki Nomad 1700 (for sale, btw).
The Eluder seems to check all the right boxes for what I'm looking for. Is there anything I should know about them first?

Any common failures or weird characteristics?
Any "required" modifications like ECM flashes, exhaust, etc?
Are parts/accessories readily available from Yamaha...heel shifter for example?
Is there any reason it wouldn't go 100k if properly maintained?

Thanks for any insight on the Eluder.

Thanks, I see now, you left the hard mounts for the dresser intact so you could keep the backrest mount, interesting!

As for the antennas, Im going to look at the fiche and see how they mount and likely put in an order for the eluder mounts.
It’s rock solid..They only thing missing is the trunk, which did not support the back rest as the bolts passed through...I suppose the extreme edges, left and right, are a bit flexible...she has not ridden it yet...I’m going to be reluctant to re-mount the trunk...aside from the center of gravity improvement, the little trailer I am building will replace twice the space and add less than half the weight, but down low, where it belongs...

The Eluder antenna mounts should be a direct installation; the passenger grab handles have the same mounting locations between both bikes. Also, though I know the mounting kit it is hard to find, the passenger backrest assembly for the Eluder would likely be a direct fit also. It isn't the best looking thing out there, but is is a very slick quick release system that takes all of 15 seconds to install and remove the backrest assembly. My wife loves having the security of the backrest and I can quickly remove it when riding alone.

that why I need to look at a fiche, I’m not sure how they mount on the Eluder. Are you saying they are mounted to the pass grab handle area? If you would mind I’d love to see a pic of the mounting. Thanks
