Ron, you have touched on a subject that will be sure to bring as many differant answers as people answering the question. On my 06 1100 Classic in 60k miles, I have tried Metzler ME880 thought they were like riding on marbles in the rain. Dunlop D402 were a great tire in the rain not long wear 13k miles. Currently have Perelli route 66 Good mileage better than the Metzlers not as good as the Dunlops in the rain. As far as price all are about the same. The Perelli's were slightly higher. The best all around tire was the Dunlop, for me anyway.
Hope this helps.

Ride in the rain

Ron,
you may not be planning on riding in the rain but you will. At least that is the way it works for me. Love those twisty back country roads.

On the tires we see lots opinions as Doug said. I maybe sacrificing some mileage but I stick to what the manufacturer puts on the bike new. That would be Bridgestones and Dunlops for my liner. Not perfect but good tires. I have this fear of misjudging a turn and want the stickiest tires I can get if I do.

I have a Harley buddy and he swears by Kenda Kruz tires. says they are a 6-ply tird for the heavier bike. They are way inexpensive! has anybody tried them? He says he got 26K out of the last front tire.

Don't get me wrong I love to ride in the sun and twisty back roads. The Metzler were great for that. But in my opinion I like the Dunlops best. This is the same tire that Harley recommends with out it saying Harley on the side. My bike came with Bridgestones. I am always trying to get more out of my bike, must be the mechanic in me, or something.
