Looking for a good cost effective way to get some music going on my 950. Was planning on putting on a windshield, but not fairing, in the near future.

Thinking maybe about mounting my iPod on the bars, but I didn't want a wire to earbuds through my helmet.

Open to any and all suggestions.

I have a helmet with speaker pockets. I got a pair of headphones that doesn't have a band, but just speakers that clipped onto my ears, and I put one in each pocket. The cord hangs out and I connect it to an ipod kept in my front pocket, or the pouch of the tank bra.

I bought a pretty cheap set of speakers and radio for mine last year. Will try to post the info for you. Works okay aup and I think i can hook an MP-3 player.
I believe it only cost about $100 for the weather tight speakers and radio. Chrome speakers are mounted on windshield- I have radio mounted in a handle bar bag- Power button and volume have a remote on bars- to change station i have to touch a button on the radio (no presets) it does seek. Okay power okay sound- bass could be better.
I'll try to post brand info- sorry i can't remember it.

Here's what I want to do.

Satellite radio - Siruis has some cheap ones with an a-la-cart plan ($6.99/mo).

Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into Radio

Bluetooth stereo headphones.

Don't want to mess with wires up through jacket.

I have a cheap set up. it's by Shark. I think it was $95 for the unit and speakers. I have the speakers mounted to the windshield- loosenedthe nuts placed speaker mountin bar on bolt tightened 'em back up. I just bought a cheap MP3 player to play thru it. Brother -in-law helped me wire it to battery and installed a 12V outlet at the same time. I have the unit in a small bag mounted to handle bars- big enough for unit, registration, sunglasses, change for tolls, etc. Speakers are weatherproof- pretty happy with it so far especially when you consider price.

Here is a suggestion, listen to your engine hum, listen to your pipes, enjoy the ride, and SING your favorite songs as you ride, get into the zone of riding.:)

maybe it's a generational thing. but listening to the bike's same song on repeat all day long (including wind) makes me want to change the station from time to time. i enjoy the road a lot more when i can add a soundtrack to it.

I got a small amp and speakers on e-bay for around $50 or $60 from a company that I think was called motogator, don't remember for sure but then found a 4gig mp3 sansa player with a cracked screen for $30 dollars on ebay, all about a year and a half ago,it's all worked great except if I get around 80mph on the freeway, replaced the speakers 1 time for about $30 from a local stereo shop. The mp3 player also has a 4gig card I also got on e-bay for $20 dollars, though my pipes are stock v-star so the stereo works great for me,but look around on e-bay if your strapped for cash and not in a hurry and you should find something.
