I have never been happy with the small 16" front wheel on my 1100 classic. Are there any simple options to go a little bigger. Would an 1100 custom's 18" wheel be an easy switch?
For reference the tire sizes are:
1100 classic 130/90-16
1100 custom 110/90-18
I am assuming I would need some spacers to make up for the difference in width. Would the brakes be a problem?
Just wondering if anyone has done this.
After thought - I have spoked wheels.
Did they pick spokes on any year customs?
Maybe this won't work. :-(

The Custom wheel will fit with no modifications, except maybe for the fender...which may have to be reaised about 1/2" or so.

I'm converting to a 21" Harley wheel over the next couple of weeks and that isn't all that hard either.

Sick Mick I have to tell you I love your bike! It is truely inspiring. You posted some pics of your bike a long time ago. What type of bars do you have on your bike? If you are going to a 21" wheel would you be interested in parting with you 18"?
Thamk for the info.

Does anyone know what the axle size is on a 650?
Will a 650 custom wheel (100/90-19) fit on a 1100 classic?

It'll fit just fine......but.....you'll only be able to have 1 rotor

I need to hang on to my wheel.....I have too much work in it prepping and painting the spokes. My bars are custom made stainless steel.

Why only one rotor? I see you are running just a single rotor. What wheel are you using? What did your bike start as? It looks like a classic rear fender and headlight but the front end looks like a custom. I may be looking at an old picture. It is the one with your bike sitting on the yellow line in the middle of the road. Black paint, white seat.

Customs all have spoke wheels, newer classics have cast wheels.
1100's have dual brake rotors on the front, 650's only have one... stopping power would potentially become a MAJOR issue...

I have one rotor on my 1100 and have no issues at all with stopping. I always felt it was overbraked in the front.....and that took some getting used to until I took one off. The single rotor is just right for me....although it is a personal preference. There are far bigger bikes than the 1100 that have only one rotor on the front.....
