Hi all. Wondering if anyone has any experience with the V Star 250. There is one on Craigslist I am eye balling . It is a 09 with 3 thousand miles for 2400. Looking for a smaller bike to keep around for when my daughter stops by. It is a nice looking bike.

Not personally, but from reading road tests and discussing with owners on the viragotech forum. Every owner seems to praise them. Most fit a 38 or 40T rear sprocket for more relaxed cruising. Often gets 80mpg or more. Good performance for what it is, and ultra reliable.

I rode mine for a couple of years exclusively. I think it's about as easy a bike as they come--lightweight, low to the ground, a lot of fun and plenty capable of any non-interstate speeds. And as you say, it is a very good-looking bike in my opinion. My only big complaint was the seat--I could do about an hour max before my tailbone couldn't handle it any more. But assuming your daughter is shorter than me she may not have the same issues at all

From what i have seen that is the average price, around 2500-3000k, all with ultra low miles, it seems most people dump them as soon as they get the itch to get a bigger bike...

i saw on the yamaha website last night of a listing that looked like a carbonated vstar 250. if they keep going to a roadstar, it might be time for a third bike. my 2006 roadstar is only going to last so long.

I sold my 01 Road Star to my brother with 100k miles on it, runs great. It is due for a carb rebuild.

I bought my 250 in June 2020 - brand new. I am 76 years old and have ridden since I was 18 years old. I have had half a dozen bigger bikes over the years but now I live on an island 20 miles long by 8 miles wide. This V-Star250 is a great bike for local touring (on and off the island) I cruise 55 to 60 MPH (90 to 100 KM) which is most confortable for me. I put a hard luggage carrier on the rear for overnight convenience. I also have a windshield which helps reduce wind resistance. All in all is a perfect fit for me.
You might also look at the Honda Rebel 250 which I have also owned. That too is a very good bike in the same size.

After being away from bikes for 22 years, I just purchased a used 2017 Yamaha V Star 250. I chose this bike, due to my age 71 and after 3 back surgeries. I purchased the bike with about 1,700 miles and its condition is in near mint. I'm going to change the chain and sprockets as the gearing is just too low for anything faster than 55 mph and my type of riding. Yes, it will go 75, but the rpms, are just too high for me. I will also be rejetting the carb too as the carb needs cleaning and it will be a good time to do it. Overall, I find this bike to be a real pleasure to ride for short trips.
