V STAR 650 Bobber rear fender diamond plate project.
I have a 2000 V star 650 classic which i picked up about 3 months ago and i made a Bobber out of it. No major issues however the rear fender drove me nuts. i tried a few different mods, copied the "blue collar bobber" mount to the shock but when i hit the first bump the fender dug into the tire...not cool... smell of burning rubber 1/4 inch bolt digging into my rear tire while doing 60 mph on outer bridge crossing from staten island to new jersey...crazy...
then i ordered the fiberglass rear fender from SS customs $235.00 only problem is that fender sits up very high and my gator seat sits very low so again every bump i would bottom out the seat to rear fender ... again not cool...
I went to lowes and picked some welding steel and fabricated this rear fender / luggage rack form and function (diamond plate looks good too). total cost 50 bucks.
Perfect it dont bottom out its sweet, the spacing was tricky between diamond plate and rear seat, i have a 16 inch long seat and i had to grind a bit if the diamond plate but its perfect love it...!!!
Also check the 1959 caddy tail light...
