V Star 950 aftermarket Exhaust

2412 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Digger
Fellow Star Riders. I'm in the market for a new aftermarket exhaust system for my now, stock 2013 V Star Tourer 950. I'm having difficultly finding a very large variety of options. Any help with a website or something i'm grateful for. I'd prefer to keep the 2 into 1 exhaust look and I've heard it can have better performance. I'm considering upgrading the air intake and installing a Bluetooth fuelpak.
What have you used?
Where did you buy it?
How did it effect performance and sound?
Thanks

Vance and Hines part number 25407 will fit your 950. Put one on my 2013 and I loved it. My buddy put the Cobra exhaust on his 950 and I thought the V&H gave mine a more mellow throatier sound over the Cobra. I combined it with a Cobra fuel processor and K&N airbox. It did increase the performance but I don't know by how much. I also swapped out the front pulley for one with more teeth which has the effect of lowering the rpms at higher speeds and making it a less buzzy highway rider.

I like the Vance &Hines. It’s sounds nice without being obnoxious. I do have the cobra fuel controller as well but stock air cleaner. It runs great, no back fire. I am not sure of the performance increase because I bought the bike with those installed so I don’t know any difference but the 950 is not a super powerful bike to begin with. It has plenty of power don’t get me wrong just not a speed demon. It’s very well balanced.

I had a Rush slip on installed on my 950. I don't think they make them anymore, but if you could find one used it would be worth it in my opinion. It sounded fantastic, nice and mellow and constant rpm and barked very nicely when you cracked the throttle. Mine was the 1.75 inch baffle version. I think they made a 2 inch as well, but from my experience from the 1.75, the 2 would be overkill.

We have a cobra slip on muffler, and a k&n air filter on Monica’s 950.No need for a fuel processor at this point. Slightly more performance all around and I think the cobra sounds nice and throaty.

Thanks. Im hoping to find a 2 in 1 full exhaust. Im considering that if i can not find one. What is the wheel you changed called? I'd like to try that.

It's pretty simple really. The stock front pulley has 30 teeth. A Yamaha Stryker has 31. Just get a Stryker pulley, it's a straight swap and really easy, just adjust the belt tension afterwards.
